Hunter loot

This is a silly article.

Who?

Hunters, of course.

What?

Anything that's grey, white, green or blue, deals damage, has armor value, has an ability OR has stats. If its a purple, or god forbid, orange, you guys can pass already. Basically, if we can ctrl+click it, it's ours.

Where?

As long as you're in a party with us.

When?

Why?

Hey, hunters have stats like everyone else right? And unlike warriors or rogues, we use mana too! We even have spells like casters do, you know. Er.. [Arcane Shot] is a spell right? And immolation trap deals fire damage, so I'm going to roll need on that [Hands of the Sun], thank you very much.

Serious Explanation of "Hunter Loot"

The OMG HUNTER LOOT joke exists for a reason. For much of WoW's history, hunters shared gear with many other classes, and benefited from many different stats. They gained ranged attack power from both strength and agility, and some abilities such as [Arcane Shot] used mana and benefited from intellect and spell power. It was a disservice to hunters in general to generalize "OMG HUNTER LOOT" as hunters just being plain greedy, when a better understanding of the equipment concerns that hunters regularly face would go a long way toward class understanding.

With Patch 4.0.1, stats were simplified. Hunters no longer gain any benefit from strength or intellect while serving in their intended role as ranged damage dealers. The stats they need are now the same as for enhancement shamans: agility; critical strike, hit, haste and mastery ratings; and resilience in PvP. The only difference is that weapon DPS matters on the ranged weapon rather than on the melee weapons.
