Obelisk

Icecrown Obelisk.

There were four Icecrown Obelisks surrounding the pinnacle of Icecrown Glacier — which contained the Lich King trapped in the Frozen Throne.

History[]

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

When Kel'Thuzad journeyed to Northrend guided by the whispers of the Lich King, he encountered one of these obelisks carved with magical symbols just before crossing the energy bridge and entering Icecrown.[1]

WC3RoC-logo This section concerns content related to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or its expansion The Frozen Throne.

Years later, after the Third War, Arthas Menethil and Anub'arak defeated Kael'thas Sunstrider, Lady Vashj, and the demonic Illidan Stormrage, and their blood elf and naga armies, and activated the four Icecrown obelisks to enter the Frozen Throne Gate.[2]

In the RPG[]

Icon-RPG This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

Four stone obelisks carved with runes of powerful magic surround the Frozen Throne. Bridges of pale blue, translucent energy stretch from the obelisk platforms to the Frozen Throne. Jets of frost periodically spew blue flames into the air, and there are glyphs carved into the rocky ground surrounding the Frozen Throne. Whoever wishes to enter the Throne Chamber, to risk the Lich King's wrath, must activate all four obelisks.[3]
