Illusion Effigy

An illusion effigy in Spires of Arak

Illusion effigies are scarecrow-like constructions used by the Arakkoa Outcasts.

These crude[1] effigies resemble arakkoa, but with the use of magic can be made to produce a perfect copy of any humanoid, including clothing, equipment and other features, down to the finest detail. The effigies can instantly learn and imitate complex movements such as mining or dancing.[2][3] Illusion effigies can also be used to communicate across large distances, with the effigy taking on the form of the controlling arakkoa, and seemingly allowing them to see and hear from the location of the effigy.[4] Properly prepared, illusion effigies can apparently take on the appearance of a nearby target without further interaction.[2] Illusion effigies can also cloak their targets in shadow, allowing them to smoothly take their place.[2]

Effigy of Terokk[]

Effigy of Terokk is a special illusion effigy created by Shadow-Sage Iskar that provides several functions beyond those normally seen. By combining the effigy with relics of Terokk, Iskar allows adventurers to relive the Talon King's greatest tales, and eventually is able to waken Terokk from his long slumber in shadows.[1][5][6]

The same effigy was later used by Terokk in his battle against Kargath Bladefist, allowing a brave adventurer to take control of an avatar of the Talon King. When the avatar was defeated, Kargath pulled forth the adventurer themselves, but Shadow-Sage Iskar was able to retrieve them, with Kargath left holding only a crude effigy.[7]

This instance appears to exceed the usual capabilities of the illusion effigies, and may have been possible only with the combined power of Terokk and Iskar.
