This article is about inquisitors as a role. For the demonic race, see Inquisitor. For the Scarlet Crusade torturers, see Scarlet inquisitor. For the in-game title, see Inquisitor (title).

Inquisitors are those whose function is to be a member of an inquisition; an organization or program intended to eliminate heresy and other things contrary to a set of doctrine or teachings, such as heretics, traitors and enemies of the cause that they serve. They are mostly affiliated with factions, armies, orders, or religious cults.

As their missions consist of hunting down, capturing, and eliminating their targets, they are highly trained individuals using a variety of techniques and weapons, with an in-depth knowledge about those they hunt. Many of them also use different types of magic to perform their duty, such as the arcane, the Holy Light, the Shadow and even the fel. They are also requisitioned to take care of interrogations and collect information,[1] to the point of using torture.[2]

The most infamous inquisitors are the interrogator demons of the Burning Legion, the torturers of the Scarlet Crusade, and the mage hunters of the blue dragonflight. However, several factions also make use of inquisitors, such as the Order of Embers and the 7th Legion affiliated with the Alliance, or the Duskwatch affiliated with the Horde.
