Leap of Faith is a level 83 priest spell that pulls a party or raid member to the priest's location. Leap of Faith (or "Life Grip") is intended to give priests a tool to help rescue fellow players who have pulled aggro, are being focused on in PvP, or just can't seem to get out of the fire in time.
To remove the target from enemy attacks. This can allow time to heal, for allies to arrive, or to escape altogether. The 40yd range places the target far beyond reach of melee types, and even casters will have to think fast to avoid being left behind. When assisting flag carriers, this can allow you to outstrip pursuers altogether. Pulling the target up on to a raised area (such as in the bases in Twin Peaks) can be especially effective.
To expedite the target's travel. In battlegrounds this can allow you to capture the flag more quickly; pulling flag carriers across water can save even more time. You can also use Leap of Faith to draw an ally to your defense, or into combat. It can also draw the target up to a raised area they might otherwise be unable to reach directly. Pulling allies up from the graveyard in Warsong Gulch would be one example. Pulling flag carriers to the cap-point (before enemy players can take your flag) can win games.
To remove the target from fire, or other ground or AoE hazards. It can also be used to life-saving effect when the target has punted off of a cliff (such as in Eye of the Storm) although quick-thinking will be required.
Some roots will prevent Leap of Faith from moving the target. When the root is magical, [Purify] can be used beforehand.
You cannot use Leap of Faith while walking or jumping, but you can use it while falling if you are affected by [Levitate]. While this is rarely useful when helping targets, it can be used maliciously, such as when levitating off a cliff, to pull a "friendly" target to their certain death; the casting priest can then either have another priest pull them back to safety, or simply levitate safely to the ground.
Leap of Faith takes a moment to pull targets from their current location. Targets already near death may die in the time it takes for them to leap, but will still be drawn to your location.
Using Leap of Faith on a target will interrupt any cast currently in progress.
Leap of Faith (LoF) is a powerful ability that directly affects the play of the target, and so should be used with consideration. Some players may not understand the reason for your use of Leap of Faith, or disagree that it was necessary or beneficial. For example, melee DPS who have pulled aggro from a boss may benefit from LoF to quickly remove them from melee range before they are killed, or before the healer burns their mana trying to keep them alive. However, these players may fail to understand what they have done wrong, disagree with your use of LoF, or simply attack you for interrupting their DPS rotation. Similarly, while Leap of Faith has the potential to save lives and win games, there is always a chance that the maneuver will backfire, despite the best of intentions. Employing any tactic runs the risk of failure, but Leap of Faith's direct intervention leaves the priest open to far more aggression and frustration from disgruntled players than most. Always do your best to think through the consequences of using LoF, but do not allow the risk of failure or the ire of other players to stop you from using it when the time is right.

Leap of Faith (or "Life Grip") is the perfect complement to the death knight[Death Grip] ability. Timed correctly, either is capable of countering the other, although Leap of Faith's 40 yd range potentially removes the target beyond the 30 yd reach of Death Grip.
