Life Tap was a level 34 warlock spell that converted health into mana.

Life Tap epitomizes the character of the warlock, sacrificing a chunk of their own life in exchange for a rapid injection of power. This tradeoff can allow warlocks to produce an endless stream of damage and death - while their health holds.
- Life Tap does not generate any threat.
- Life Tap consumes 10% of the warlock's maximum health. If used at or below 10%, the spell will not cast, producing the error message "Fizzled".
This spell has a big impact on how to play a warlock. It means that a warlock will never run out of mana, provided sufficient healing is available.
A warlock in a party with a healer can boost their mana if the healer agrees. Note that the self-inflicted damage will rank low on the healers priority list - after the tank, and party members taking aggro. Healers should be willing to heal a Life Tapping warlock, as use of the ability is often critical to maintaining good DPS, as long as the warlock is reasonably considerate in their usage.
When using Life Tap in parties, be considerate of the extra strain this places on the healer. Try to tap regularly and if possible at times when incoming damage is low. Tapping for a large amount of your health all at once, especially when you or other party members are already at low health, can stress and alienate your healer. A little communication never hurts. If you're planning on using Life Tap in unexpected ways (such as Life Tapping 30% of your health between boss phases), try to warn your healer first.
- Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Life Tap has been removed from all warlock specs.
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now sacrifices 10% of the warlock's maximum health (down from 15%) to restore 30% of maximum mana (from mana equal to health sacrificed).
- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Mana gain reduced from 120% to 100%.
- Patch 3.3.3 (2010-03-23): This spell no longer scales with spirit, and instead scales with spell power.
- Patch 1.12.0 (2006-08-22): This spell now benefits from effects which increase your spell damage. At rank 3 and above, the base amount of health lost and mana gained will increase by 80% of your bonus spell damage effects. Talents and items can further modify those values. Rank 1 and 2 receive reduced effect.
- Patch 0.12 (2004-10-11): No longer interrupts mana regeneration.
- Patch 0.8 (2004-07-07): No longer causes threat.
