The Light's Chosen (or simply the Chosen) are an elite order of draenei paladins commanded by Prophet Velen, the leader of the draenei race.
First seen some time after the arrival of the draenei on Azeroth, the Light's Chosen have since played a role in resisting the third invasion of the Burning Legion. When the demons attacked the draenei capital of the Exodar, the Light's Chosen fought by Velen's side during the ensuing battle, ultimately prevailing.
The exact nature of the order and the extent of its membership is unclear, however they likely serve as personal agents to the Prophet in his quest to preserve the Light.
History[]
Legion[]
Some time following the beginning of the Burning Legion's third invasion of Azeroth, the demons launched a massive assault on the Exodar. The severity of the attack initially overwhelmed the draenei, and the demons overran the city. Many of the civilians subsequently fled to the Vault of Lights, where they remained under the protection of the Light's Chosen and Prophet Velen himself, who created a barrier of light to shield them.
When the champion sent by Archmage Khadgar arrived with the [Light's Heart], the tide began to gradually turn against the demons. With many of the Legion's portals and lieutenants neutralized, Velen gave the order for the Light's Chosen to advance a purge any remaining demons from the city. Cutting their way through any demons in their path, the Chosen destroyed the remaining Legion portals in the Exodar, effectively ending the invasion. Upon inspecting the Light's Heart, however, the Prophet realized the Legion's true goal was to slay the naaru O'ros. Rushing to the Seat of the Naaru, Velen and Khadgar's champion succeeded in defeating the eredar commanding the Legion's attack, High General Rakeesh, who transpired to be Velen's lost son.
The Light's Chosen arrived shortly after battle, receiving stern instructions from their Prophet to make the necessary preparations to return home.[1]
They later traveled on the Vindicaar to Argus and participated in the Argus Campaign.
Battle for Azeroth[]
During the Fourth War, Jost and Divinius accompanied Prophet Velen to Stormwind City, acting as his personal bodyguards during a meeting with High King Anduin Wrynn and other Alliance leaders in Stormwind Keep, shortly before the Battle for Darkshore.[2]
Dragonflight[]
Following the rediscovery of the Dragon Isles, Prophet Velen sent Virtos to Stormwind City in order to meet with the Alliance adventurers. She explained that after days of meditation, the Prophet requested their presence for a matter of great importance, and gave them a teleportation crystal designed by their artificers to meet him on the Vindicaar.[3]

Notes[]
- While Velen is the overall leader of the Chosen, it is likely that Divinius is the senior among the Chosen themselves. This can be seen as she is frequently addressed directly by Velen when he issues orders to the paladins.
- The Lightforged Protectors use the same armor as them.
