The Lost Lands is a large blighted area overrun by undead covering much of eastern Sholazar Basin. It reaches to the Rainspeaker Rapids and stretches from the lands surrounding the fallen Lifeblood Pillar to the Makers' Overlook.
During the war against the Lich King, the Lifeblood Pillar was sabotaged by the Cult of the Damned and fell, which allowed snows from Icecrown to collapse into the basin, creating the Avalanche and giving the Scourge a pathway in the region. The Lost Lands spread out from the Avalanche, it is an area blighted and dying, the air fouled with a yellow haze, the ground thick with Scourge. There was a gorloc village here once, called Mosswalker Village, but all the residents have long since fled or been killed. Half of the broken Lifeblood Pillar lies on its side here, the titan machine that was once at its apex wreckage on the ground. The Scourge cut a mine into that broken portion of the pillar to take the red crystal heart from it.[1] The Avatar of Freya fought ceaselessly to contain the spread of the blight and even sought the help of adventurers in her duties.
Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard met the Avatar of Freya who told them that the situation about the Lost Lands was better than they were during the war against the Lich King, and healing slowly.[2] The undead sent by the Lich King to take the red crystal are now wandering aimlessly.[1]
Notes and trivia[]
- This area of Sholazar Basin contains no herbs.
- The naming of this subzone may be a reference to the Land of the Lost, which both Sholazar Basin and Un'Goro Crater seem to be based on.
