- This article is about the profession. For the NPC with the same name, see Lumberjack (NPC).
Lumberjacks are laborers and workers who chop down trees to acquire their precious lumber for later use.[1][2] After the trees are felled, the quarry is usually sent to a nearby lumber mill to be processed. Once it arrives, woodworkers work with the wood. A good woodsman makes use of every resource, even from the most bizarre creatures.[3]
Orc peons act as the main lumber harvesters for the Horde[4][5][6], although shredders are commonly used as well.[7] On the Alliance side, human peasants act as the counterpart to peons; shredders are much rarer in comparison. The Alliance also hires commandojacks, people highly trained in the art of killing trees,[8] while timber lords are the Horde variant.[9] In both factions, they are known as as loggers, woodcutters, and woodsmen.
Out in the world, Undead ghouls and wisps can also act as lumber harvesters.
Activities[]
- The Warsong clan in Ashenvale cuts more wood than they can use. Whatever they gather is left to rot while their blades bite into fresh trees.[10] This puts them into conflict with the local night elves, much the same as what happened with Grommash Hellscream in the past.
- A colony of woodsmen live in Grizzly Hills.
- On alternate Draenor, Barov Industries deals with woodcutting.
In the RPG[]
Tinkers can make self-propelled mechanical lumberjacks, which may be huge and weigh thousands of pounds.[11]
