Madeleine Roux is an American novelist and the author of several World of Warcraft books.

- Roux's two older brothers introduced her to PC gaming and the Warcraft RTS games when she was 12-13 years old. She started playing World of Warcraft during vanilla, around the time she graduated from university. Her first character was a night elf rogue, and night elves remain her favorite race.[1][2] She raided with her rogue during vanilla, but internal guild politics caused her to switch to a night elf Restoration druid for most of vanilla and The Burning Crusade.[3][4] Her account later got hacked and subsequently deleted, leading her to start over from scratch with a night elf Balance druid modeled after her old character.[4] This druid is still her main.[3] As of July 2020, she has a max-level character of every class, both Alliance and Horde.[5][6] Aside from her main, she has 3 other druids, one for each non-Balance specialization: a Zandalari troll (who serves as her secondary Horde main), a worgen, and a Kul Tiran.[3][4] In addition to playing retail, she is also a guild leader in Classic, but as of June 2020, the guild has effectively disbanded.[4][7] Aside from the Warcraft games, she also used to be "very into"
[Overwatch] and occasionally plays Diablo III with friends.[8] - If she had to pick a favorite lore character, it would be Tyrande Whisperwind,[2] but she is also a big fan of Malfurion, Arthas, Thrall, Illidan, Jaina, Talanji, Genn, and Nathanos.[3][5][9][10][11] She has stated that after writing Shadows Rising, she feels like every character she got to write has become her favorite.[3][10]
- Wrath of the Lich King and Legion are her favorite expansions. She has a Legion tattoo[12] on her leg.[13]
- The thing Roux enjoys the most is writing romance, and she has jokingly stated that she'd be satisfied with writing short Warcraft romance stories like A Moment in Verse for the rest of her life.[14]
- The chapter in Traveler: The Shining Blade that's told from a murloc's point of view is Roux's favorite chapter out of anything she's written.[15]
- The NPC Madeleine Roux is a reference to her.[16]
