Master Wan Snowdrift is the master of the Shado-Pan's Blackguard discipline and is responsible for training new recruits in the Shado-Pan Monastery. He can be found in the Shado-Pan Garrison in Townlong Steppes. All warriors of the Shado-Pan must answer to him while he must only answer to Lord Taran Zhu.^[1]

Similar to Taran Zhu, he initially hated the Horde and Alliance, seeing them as responsible for the Sha outbreak. But after Taran Zhu and the Shado-Pan are saved from the Shas of Violence and Hatred by those same adventurers they saw as corrupt, Snowdrift and Taran Zhu saw their true nature. He gives out the Shado-Pan daily quests along with Ling of the Six Pools at the Shado-Pan Garrison.

History[]

The Trial of the Red Blossoms[]

This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Some time after the Horde and alliance arrived on Pandaria the Shado-Pan undergone the Trial of the Red Blossoms in order to gain new recruits for their organization. Master Snowdrift as head of the Blackguard discipline oversaw the second trial known as The Test of Strength. However during this test to the shock of the Shado-Pan a sha interrupted the test and attacked the three surviving recruits, thankfully the three were able to work together to defeat the sha.

While the three pandaren recuperated they were visited by Master Snowdrift who commended them by surviving a test he would not give even to his most senior students. He further remarked that he was proud of their strength and there would be no more testing to prove their worth to Shado-pan. Master Snowdrift was proven right when Master Nurong decided that the third test would be for the initiates to swear the oath and seal their commitment to the Shado-pan.^[2]

Mists of Pandaria[]

This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Snowdrift is first encountered during the Shado-Pan Monastery instance where he serves as the second boss. The players defeat both him and his students, forcing him to submit and see that they have the strength to defeat the Sha. He is later found as a Quest giver at the Shado-Pan Garrison in Townlong Steppes.

Some time after the death of the Thunder King, Snowdrift and a squad of Shado-Pan found [The Fist of Ra-den] and [The Highkeeper's Ward] powering the Thunder Forge on the Isle of Thunder. Unaware of the dangerous energies stored in the artifacts, Snowdrift took up the Fist and was immediately struck by a spear of lightning that seared his flesh and scarred his body. Though he was injured, he survived his encounter with the weapon. He and the other Shado-Pan feared that the weapon and its counterpart shield could do grave harm to the world if they fell into the wrong hands. To prevent this, they took the artifacts to Xuen, the White Tiger.^[3]
