Maut is an obsidian destroyer boss in Ny'alotha, the Waking City.
Adventure Journal[]
As the ancient aqir arose from the desert sands, their prophets set about the construction of an obsidian destroyer imbued with the essence of the Old Gods. Driven by an insatiable thirst for magic, Maut consumed the mana of its creators once it awoke and left their corpses to rot under the scorching sun of Uldum.
Overview[]
Maut consumes mana through [Devour Magic]. Upon reaching full mana Maut becomes encased in [Obsidian Skin], gaining a protective mana shield and transforming mana into [Consumed Magic] over time. When the mana shield is consumed, Maut will once again come alive to drain mana from its enemies.
Tanks[]
- Take turns tanking to mitigate the effects of [Arcane Claws] and [Arcane Wounds].
- Utilize [Devoured Abyss] to weaken Dark Manifestations and escape the effects of [Stygian Annihilation].
- Intercept orbs of [Forbidden Mana] before they reach Maut and use them to aid your allies.
Damage Dealers[]
- Utilize [Devoured Abyss] to escape the effects of [Stygian Annihilation].
- Quickly break Maut's [Obsidian Skin] before it gains too many stacks of [Consumed Power].
Healers[]
- Utilize [Devoured Abyss] to escape the effects of [Stygian Annihilation].
- Avoid triggering [Drain Essence] near allies.

Trivia[]
- PTR adventure journal
When the breaking of N'Zoth's prison unleashed his aqir across Azeroth, their dark prophets set about constructing an obsidian statue imbued with the void essence of the Old God himself. The moment Maut sprung to life it consumed the magic of its creators, leaving their corpses to rot beneath the scorching sun of Uldum.
- Maut's name, as well as his mechanic of turning to stone based on his mana bar, harkens back to the first obsidian destroyer boss: Moam, from Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj.
