Background[]
Maynard Algerson was not always a successful businessman. He first came from nothing, and founded Algerson Lumber to support his wife and son, to make them a life and ensure they would want for nothing.[1] However, he became blinded by his success[2] and obsessed with his work, which he intended to leave as his legacy. This caused his wife to turn to witchcraft to exact vengeance upon him by enthralling the animal population of Fernwood Ridge to attack his lumber operations.[3]
When confronted with his wife's locket, he declared that his work was his life and to forget both his wife and son and that Petula's death only meant one less person in his way.[3]
Later, Dorian Atwater asked him for help to provide lumber, but he wasn't very helpful.[4]
