Medivh can only be found in the mission Medivh. He proves to be the most powerful unit and should be approached with caution, as he has extreme attack speed and the same range as your Archers. He will also summon monsters to defend him - a Daemon if his Magic bar is full, or Spiders otherwise.
While his "natural" Armor and basic attack values are 0, he receives a +4 upgrade, like all other enemy units in the mission where he is encountered.
Spells[]
- Summon Spiders
- Summons 1-4 Spiders
Range | Effect | Mana Cost |
---|---|---|
N/A | Summons 1-4 Spiders | 60 per spider |
The Warlock calls forth hordes of deadly, poisonous spiders to aid him. Several spiders come at any one summoning, and will swarm over the enemy as the caster directs. They crawl through gaps in the enemies armor and bite them with their poisoned fangs, injecting their deadly juices into the bloodstream. As the enemy falls to the ground, he literally burns from within.[1]
- Summon Daemon
- Summons a Daemon
Range | Effect | Mana Cost |
---|---|---|
N/A | Summons a Daemon | 255 |
The most powerful spell ever rumored to exist. Legends say that the caster would have the ability to summon forth a daemon by allowing his body to be sacrificed to enable its existence in this plane. The daemon would then be guided by the spirit of the caster to do his bidding, but should the daemon be destroyed, the warlock's life would be forfeit. The truth to this tale is questionable, but the incantations and rituals used to summon the creature may lay in some lost runic writings. The dream of every follower of the underworld is to rediscover these incantations and be able to command the power of the Daemon.[1]
Notes[]
Medivh is given a cost of 2500 gold within the game's data, even though he cannot be built or created, like the other hero units.[2]
Research for Minor Summons and Poison Cloud has been unlocked for Medivh to use. Since there are no buildings to target, Poison Cloud is never used against the player. Curiously, Major Summons has not been made available, even though Medivh is able to summon a Daemon should his Magic bar fill up. It is possible the Medivh unit ignores what research is available and has it's own fixed set of spells.
If the player casts Far Seeing on Medivh's starting point, this will trigger him to attack and/or summon enemies to attack. If this is done fairly early on, he will spend the entire mission summoning a single Spider at a time. If the pathing allows, the Spider will attack the player's party, otherwise, it will be trapped in the same room with Medivh until it dies. This will help to limit how many Daemons the player must face prior to slaying Medivh. Keep in mind that at least one unit is positioned within Medivh's attack range, so the player should move their units around before casting Far Seeing at his location.
Medivh's fireball attacks costs 1 MP to cast, unlike the usual 5MP the other casters require. The cost is so low, it will reduce Medivh's attack speed to 40 frames, which is on par with MP recovery.
Medivh is one of two units in the entire game that does not come with any buttons on their command bar (The other is the Wounded unit). To use Medivh, the player must temporarily use another unit's command bar (The Warlock's bar is an ideal candidate, given they share the same spells). Unfortunately, this has a limited duration and the game will eventually revert to Medivh's default command bar.

In older builds of the game, Medivh was called "Klaron" and had far different stats. No unit sprite or portrait are included, the unused cost for the unit is 100 gold and his basic attack required 5MP to cast, instead of 1.
