Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis Level 20 demon hunter ability 40 yd range 5 min cooldown Instant Leap into the air and land with explosive force, dealing (38.92% of Attack power) Chaos damage to enemies within 8 yds, and stunning them for 3 sec. Players are Dazed for 3 sec instead. Upon landing, you are transformed into a hellish demon for 24 sec, greatly empowering your Chaos Strike and Blade Dance abilities and gaining 20% Haste.

Metamorphosis is a demon hunter ability. It is replaced with [Metamorphosis] when specced into Vengeance.

Notes and trivia

• During Metamorphosis, [Chaos Strike] transforms into [Annihilation], and [Blade Dance] transforms into [Death Sweep].
• Metamorphosis forms retain the demon hunter characters' hair color and tattoo shape.
• During the Legion alpha, Metamorphosis transformed [Demon's Bite] into [Demon Rend] and did not affect Blade Dance.
• Metamorphosis is an ultimate ability available to the Illidan Stormrage and other Demon Hunter hero units in Warcraft III.
• Metamorphosis is one of Illidan's Heroic Abilities in Heroes of the Storm.

  • No longer learned from   [8-45] Fel Secrets.
  • Rank 2 made baseline. Rank 3 converted into the [Rush of Chaos] talent. Rank 4 converted into the [Chaotic Transformation] talent.
    
• Patch 9.0.2 (2020-11-17): Rank 4 now learned at level 54: When you activate Metamorphosis, the cooldown of [Eye Beam] and [Blade Dance] is immediately reset.
  
• Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13):
  • Now learned at level 20 if not previously learned from the quest. No longer provides 20% Leech. [Soul Rending] will now return 25% Leech to Metamorphosis.
  • Rank 2 now learned at level 20: You gain an additional 25% Haste during Metamorphosis.
  • Rank 3 now learned at level 48: Cooldown reduced by 60 sec.
    
• Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Cooldown reduced to 4 minutes (was 5), now also grants 20% Leech, and now dazes enemy players (previously stunned).
  
• Hotfix (2017-07-27): Fixed a bug with Metamorphosis where it would sometimes fail to cast but still trigger its cooldown if the player became Rooted at the same time as the spell was cast.
  
• Hotfix (2017-07-05): Metamorphosis should no longer go on cooldown when the target destination is out of line of sight.
  
• Hotfix (2017-06-19): Metamorphosis will no longer sometimes consume its cooldown without moving.
  
• Hotfix (2017-06-13): Casting Metamorphosis while rooted will no longer consume the cooldown.
