Myrmidon

A Myrmidon in Hearthstone.

Myrmidons are naga units. They use scimitars and tridents as their weapons.

They first appeared after the Third War, accompanying Lady Vashj and Illidan Stormrage. On the Broken Shore a myrmidon ensnared Tyrande Whisperwind. With the arrival of Malfurion Stormrage and Maiev Shadowsong, Illidan had to depart and the myrmidon covered his escape. In Lordaeron, myrmidons were sent to scout rivers for missing Tyrande.

A group of them attacked the ship Wavecutter from Theramore on which Lo'Gosh and his companions were.

Another group attacked Feathermoon Stronghold after the Cataclysm.

They also became troops of the Illidari stationed at the Fel Hammer.

Notes and trivia

• There are several non-naga myrmidons including human Scarlet Myrmidon, tol'vir Oathsworn Myrmidon, orc Stormborn Myrmidon, and murloc Razorjaw Myrmidon.
• Myrmidons were the devoted follower of the warrior Achilles in Homer's The Illiad. They were the fiercest fighters of the Trojan War. The term has come to mean someone who serves without question, a fitting title for one of Azshara's followers.
