Where did it come from?
The Mysterious Red Crystal is located in the Darkshore.[47.3, 48.7] Hostile moonkin are being drawn to it. It seems that embedded inside the crystal are a few small fragments of bone, as well as half of a jawbone of what may be a humanoid.

- Sentinel Glynda Nal'Shea suspects it came from Felwood and the model file of the crystal mentions Illidan. The Cataclysm quest "
[15-30] The Skull of Gul'dan" also implies that a red crystal was the altar that the Skull of Gul'dan was kept on. The jawbone could be a part of the skull that Illidan did not take with him, especially considering the Warcraft III icon for the skull before its consuming had a jawbone. - Alternatively, it may be a bloodstone.
