Nefarius's Corruption is the 
[Red Scepter Shard] fork of 
[The Scepter of the Shifting Sands] quest chain to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Players must have completed [60] The Charge of the Dragonflights (and thus have neutral or better reputation with the Brood of Nozdormu) before 
Vaelastrasz the Corrupt will offer players this quest.
Players must also complete the 
[Blue Scepter Shard] and 
[Green Scepter Shard] forks before 
Anachronos will offer the conclusion of the quest chain, [60] The Might of Kalimdor.
Objectives[]
Slay 
Nefarian and recover the Red Scepter Shard. Return the Red Scepter Shard to Anachronos at the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. You have 5 hours to complete this task.
Description[]
Champion, is it you? A thousand years it has been since I was entrusted the shard and it is at my darkest hour that one should rise to relieve me of it... But what would tragedy be without cruelty?

- It is advised that players talk to Vaelastraz to pick up this quest before the event is started. There is a very short period of time after someone starts the event while Vaelastraz is still friendly if it is still necessary to pick up the quest.
- After accepting the quest, Nefarius will yell: Looking for this: [Red Scepter Shard]? Come and get it...
- Some time later may yell the following:
- I wonder, heroes, what will you do when I manage to destroy this shard? Will the world be beyond Salvation?
Lord Victor Nefarius's laughter echoes through the halls of Blackwing. - What's this? A chip in the shard? Finally, a weakness exposed... It won't be long now.
- I wonder, heroes, what will you do when I manage to destroy this shard? Will the world be beyond Salvation?
- Failing to kill Nefarian within 5 hours results in looting [From the Desk of Lord Victor Nefarius] from the dragon (provided you still kill him) instead of the red shard.
