Neptune

Neptune was the codename of a Warcraft mobile MMO, developed by Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase.

History[]

Neptune entered development in 2019. It was envisioned as a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the same universe as World of Warcraft. It wouldn’t be a direct translation of the game but a spinoff, set during a different time period.

The project was cancelled in 2022. The two companies disagreed over terms and ultimately called a halt to the project. The development team, which consisted of more than 100 individuals, was disbanded, only some of whom were offered internal transfers.^[1]
