Obsidian Citadel

Obsidian Citadel

The Obsidian Citadel is located in western Waking Shores, and is the ancient home of the black dragonflight. It is under siege by the Qalashi djaradin under the leadership of Warlord Sargha. Having awoken from their ancient slumber with the return of the dragons, the djaradin laid siege to the Obsidian Citadel only to find it empty; taking it and the internal fortress of Neltharus. The citadel was laid siege to by Wrathion and his Blacktalon forces; despite the Red dragonflight advising against such an assault. Fortunately, the assault was spared massive casualties by the unexpected arrival of Sabellian and the Obsidian Brood; who reinforced Wrathion's assault. The two forces claimed the Obsidian Throne, the apex of the citadel and the literal throne of the leader of the flight. Here, Sabellian and Wrathion began to debate who was the one who should become the new ruler of the Black dragonflight, and as a result, aspect.

Following the Waking Shores questline, the Obsidian Citadel becomes a weekly quest repository and grinding location for the Sabellian and Wrathion factions. Upon choosing which heir of Neltharion they want to support, new quests and rewards will open to them for that week.

Here, players can kill many of the Qalashi djaradin to recover Trade archaeology highborne artifactfragment [Key Fragments] and Inv misc key 15 [Key Framings] to create Inv blacksmithing skeletonkey [Greater Obsidian Keys] (once a week for N [70EWQ] Allegiance to One) and Inv archaeology 70 keytonarthalasacademy [Restored Obsidian Keys] (repeatedly after the first) to return to the dragons of their choice, including several other factions such as the smiths under Forgemaster Bazentus, or even the misguided Worldbreakers in the Slagmire. Returning a certain amount of keys will summon a new rare spawn or event for players in the area to complete for reputation with the would-be aspects, the Valdrakken Accord, and reward useful loot in the form of cosmetics, upgrades, gold and reputation tokens for other factions. The quests available weekly rotate, meaning that they are not always the same, and while players can only choose one dragon to implicitly support that week, they can still aid the other dragon by giving them keys or drops such as the Achievement dungeon coablackdragonflight [Mark of Sargha] or Inv misc ring mop17 [Sargha's Signet].

It is here that the Obsidian Oathstone can also be found.
