Old Town 2
Old Town banner

A banner marking the entrance to Old Town.

Old Town is Stormwind City's most older section, and many parts of it still predate the reconstruction of the city after its razing by the orcs during the events of the First War. As the district had not been badly ravaged, it had never needed true rebuilding. Consequently, less attention had been paid to its upkeep since then, and so while preserved, it was not nearly as pristine as the rest of the capital. It is a rustic, down-trodden place, where the streets are described as far dirtier and smellier than the other districts. It is also the residential area for most of the poor folk of the city, as beggars, thieves, and poors can be found there.[1]

To get to the Old Town, you can head northeast from the Trade District, south from Stormwind Keep, or southeast from the Dwarven District.

In the district, the Command Center is the base of operations for Stormwind's army officers, which include the Champions' Hall, the army's barracks, open training grounds, stables, and the headquarters of the SI:7, a secretive military force of Stormwind's sovereign monarch which acts as the Alliance's intelligence agency under the lead of Spymaster Mathias Shaw.

After the Cataclysm, the Command Center and SI:7 headquarters areas received a redesign, with a building portion being knocked out to open onto a wooded training area and stables.

During the War Against the Nightmare, while the Emerald Nightmare's mist enveloped Stormwind City, noises could be heard from the Old Town. In the district, the bodies of citizens could be found across the streets with an odor of decay stronger than before.[1]

Following the Fourth War, the Class Orders sent their trainers to the Training Hall to form the adventurers of the Alliance.
