Orik Trueheart is a dwarf paladin of the Argent Crusade and the Silver Hand.
History[]
When he was only a lad, Orik was given a chance to battle the Scourge and save his home from certain destruction, he took that chance and volunteered to accompany Prince Arthas Menethil's forces to Northrend. He was one of the lucky members of the 1st Legion to survive the freezing winter after Arthas trapped them there, as the prince was the one who ordered the ships burned and left them all for dead in the frozen wasteland.[1]
Wrath of the Lich King[]
During the war against the Lich King, Orik joined the Argent Crusade and was present Dawn's Reach where he was sent alongside the priestess Tilda Darathan to free the cursed ghosts at the Forgotten Shore in the Dragonblight.
He was assisted by adventurers sent by his old friend Zelig the Visionary,[2] who found for him a rare herb known as [Murkweed], so that he could use it to concoct an elixir that will allow them to temporary entry into the world of the forgotten and free them, as he mentioned that the spirits of the brave and noble soldiers of the Alliance who haunt the coast in death were cursed - bound to this world until the end of days.[3]
With the help of the adventurer, he discovered that the spirits did not know about Arthas' betrayal,[4] and decided to use the crystal gave by his friend Zelig five years ago, which he used until then whenever he would feel anger, anxiety, or sorrow over the events that transpired here by focusing his thoughts on the orb, in order to place it in the center of the Forgotten Shore, so that the spirits could see the world through his heart and soul, freeing them from their torment.[5]
He then thanked the adventurers who honored the memory of hundreds of Alliance veterans, before asking them to return to Zelig and pass on his thanks, as he will be happy to hear of the events that transpired at the Forgotten Shore.[6]
Since the death of the Lich King, Orik spent his time around Ulduar learning about Tyr, as he was the only titan keeper who fought Loken during his betrayal, and about a forgotten shield.
Legion[]
Following the failed Argent Crusade's assault on the Broken Shore, and after Dalaran was relocated above the Broken Isles, Orik was called upon by Lord Maxwell Tyrosus alongside Tahu Sagewind. There he meet a paladin champion of the Silver Hand and explained to them that he has uncovered evidence of a shield crafted by Tyr long ago, having found a vrykul saga describing this powerful shield that Tyr crafted for his vrykul champion to carry into battle.
With the help of Tahu from the Seers, who has the ability to speak with the long departed and is able to question the hero in this saga directly, Orik explained that they were now finally able to act, as he has been wanting to pursue this for some time now.[7] As he had done some legwork already, he believed that Gorvold was buried at Shield Hill in the Howling Fjord.[8] There with the help of Tahu, they located the grave of the vrykul and with a short ritual bring his spirit back, they spoke with Gorvold who told them his story as well as the position of the shield in a tomb of warrior kings in Stormheim.[9]
Orik enlisted the help of the paladin and healer Cato to accompany them to Stormheim after Tahu returned to Netherlight Temple, in order to inform the Conclave of their success. On the island, they enter the tomb where they overcome any defenses in order to find the Shrine of the Truthguard, accompanying the champion paladin through all trials, until they eventually defeated Yrgrim the Truthseeker and Runeshaper Griselda, getting his respect and [Truthguard].
Following their success, Orik and Cato returned to Dalaran to report to Tyrosus.[10] Later, he was present during the reformation of the Order of the Silver Hand in the Sanctum of Light, joining their ranks to serve the new Highlord of the Silver Hand.[11]
