Play Dead is a level 10 hunter ability that allows the hunter to command their pet to perform their own variant of [Feign Death].

This ability is taught by  [Pet Training Manual: Play Dead].

Tips and tactics

• Play Dead is very useful for managing mob pulls. For example, a patrolling mob is coming your way but you don't have enough time to [Dismiss Pet]. You can Feign Death while also ordering your pet to act dead.
• When a pet is playing dead, this ability changes to [Wake Up].

Trivia

• Play Dead is a common Hunter spell in the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion of Hearthstone. Humorously, the artwork depicts an undead puppy and the flavor text reads: "He's a very literal dog."

Patch changes

• Patch 7.2.5 (2017-06-13): Play Dead/Wake Up no longer has a maximum range (was 100 yards).
