|Prayer of Mending|
Prayer of Mending (PoM) is a level 50 reactive Holy priest healing buff similar to . It will not actually heal the target when cast on them, but instead place a buff on the target. When the buffed target takes any damage, the buff will heal the target, and move to another random raid member within 20 yards. The buff has 5 charges, and will not proc from environmental damage (falling, lava, fatigue, etc) nor damage that is absorbed, such as with . Spells that reduce the caster's own HP such as warlock's will not proc PoM.

- Prayer of Mending's efficiency is greatly dependent upon the number of targets it heals. As a rule of thumb, when healing 3 targets PoM becomes one of the priest's most efficient heals; when 4 or 5 of its charges are used, it is usually the most mana efficient of all. When only using 2 of its charges, PoM is still slightly more efficient than .
- The selection of the target for PoM is therefore of great importance, in maximizing both the spell's mana efficiency and the priests's healing, given the spell's 12 second cooldown.
- Prayer of Mending does not proc from absorbed damage. This creates an antagonistic relationship between PoM and shields such as . PoM's 30-second duration allows it to outlast a single PW:S cast, although heals from Discipline priests will still proc Divine Aegis on targets.
- The animation between players is invisible to enemies in the battleground and arena, so there is no risk of exposing a stealthed teammate.
- As with all other heals, the threat generated by PoM is given to the casting priest. This was changed with patch 3.0.2, as a side effect of changing the way PoM healing was registered so that it counted as the casting priest's healing.
- Prayer of Mending has a 10-second cooldown, added in Patch 2.0.10, mainly to limit its effectiveness in PvP combat. For example, to avoid instant self-heals without a cooldown.

- The 4-piece bonus of Hallowed Raiment (level 70) increases healing done by this spell by 100 per proc.
- The 2-piece bonus of the Heroes' Regalia of Faith (and Valorous, both level 80) increases the number of charges that PoM has to a total of 6.
Prayer of Mending is often cast on the main tank before engaging combat, as it will begin the spell's 12-second cooldown and possibly allow mana regeneration before the fight begins. Waiting several seconds between casting the first Prayer of Mending and engaging combat allows a subsequent PoM to be cast immediately (or almost immediately) after the initial spell procs.
Prayer of Mending's benefits over other multiple-target heal spells include large range and low mana cost (particularly in situations where most or all of the charges proc). There are some drawbacks, however, including the long cooldown, inability to stack on multiple targets, inability to heal multiple targets simultaneously, inability to target the heal after the first proc, and a maximum of 5 procs every 12 seconds. That said, combining PoM and other group healing spells (e.g. , , ) can be an extremely useful way to do a great deal of healing on a number of targets in a short period of time.
Prayer of Mending also lends itself to group healing during mob grinds, particularly where the priest themselves is capable of (albeit slowly) taking on a single mob at a time. Have each member of the party hold the aggro of separate mobs. As each person is hit, the PoM will bounce from one to the other doing the sustained healing; allowing the priest to take a break from healbotting. Whenever a damage dealer in the party finishes their mob, they should target a new mob instead of coming back to assist the priest. The goal is to spread the damage, and thus the chance for PoM to jump.
Patches and hotfixes
- Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Now heals for 150% in PvP.
- Patch 7.1.0 (2016-10-25):
- Now heals for 175% of spell power (was 150%).
- Now avoids jumping to targets that already have Prayer of Mending, if possible.
- Now learned at level 50 (was 58).
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now available only to Holy and heals for a flat 150% of spell power.
- Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Prayer of Mending from multiple Priests can now be on the same target, and can be on multiple targets from the same Priest, but the ability has a 1.5-second cast time (up from instant cast). (See also: instant cast heals)
- Hotfix (2014-03-25): Resolved an issue where the amount of healing received from Prayer of Mending was not benefitting from PvP Power.
- Hotfix (2013-10-02): Prayer of Mending's healing should now be correctly modified by Battle Fatigue.
- Hotfix (2013-09-12): Prayer of Mending is now generating a heal and absorption shield for the correct amount when critically striking for a Discipline Priest.
- Patch 5.2.0 (2013-03-05): Amount of healing done reduced by 20%. However, the re-introduction of means that for Discipline and Holy priests, there is no decrease to the amount of healing done.
- Hotfix (2012-10-12): Prayer of Mending now provides 25% more healing when cast by Holy and Discipline Priests.
- Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Will now properly return an error when cast on a target with a more powerful Prayer of Mending active.
- Hotfix (2011-01-26): Prayer of Mending is now properly reduced by healing reduction effects, such as Mortal Strike, Absolute Corruption, and Engulfing Darkness.
- Patch 3.3.0 (2009-12-08): and can no longer be incorrectly triggered by this spell for priests who do not have those talents.
- Hotfix (2009-08-08): Prayer of Mending will now trigger on the healed target and not the priest who cast Prayer of Mending.
- Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): This spell will no longer fail from “A more powerful spell is already active” errors. It will now always cast, including overwriting a weaker Prayer of Mending. In addition, trinkets which are triggered from casting a healing spell will now be triggered properly by Prayer of Mending.
- Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): Will now only benefit from the healing talents of the priest who cast the original spell.
- Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): This spell can now critically hit.
- Patch 2.4.0 (2008-03-25): This spell will now fade from players who leave or enter an instance, change continents, or exit the game.
- Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13): This ability will no longer be overwritten when the new Prayer of Mending would do less healing.

- This spell can no longer jump to an Imp with active. It will also no longer cause the healed target to stand up.
