A pure class (commonly abbreviated to pure) is a class only capable of performing a single type of class role. They are differentiated from hybrid classes. All current pure classes are DPS classes.
Background
There are three main roles; tank, healer and DPS. A character's ability to perform them is determined by specialization. For example, a death knight has two specializations for DPS and one for tanking. A priest only has one specialization for DPS, the two others being healing.
Specializations in pure classes, however, does not have this variety - all three are intended for the same role. To date, this role is always DPS.
