In the canceled Warcraft Adventures, razor-rats were rats that dwelt within the Alterac Mountains.
Thrall found the rotting carcass of an unfortunate razor-rat that got killed by the tesla coils protecting the gnomish inventors' workshop in the region. He later used that very same carcass as a reagent for his Death and Decay spell.
