Quest reward copies of this recipe earned by rogues before Patch 1.3.0 were not Bind on Pickup, and any that remain unused are still transferable to another character.
- In 2009, this item was seen on one server's auction house listing for 9,000
- In 2010 one sold in a cross-server deal for a collection of items worth 25,000
In the original quest, learning to make Thistle Tea was offered as a reward to anyone that could cook, not just rogues.

- Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Undocumented change: Original non-BoP version has been deprecated.
- Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): No longer a quest reward and can only be sold by the vendor.
- Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07):
- Smudge Thunderbrew in Ravenholdt Manor now sells the recipe for Thistle Tea to those rogues who completed the quest and inadvertently destroyed their recipes.
- This item now binds on pickup.
