The Riverpaw Pack[1] is a clan[2] of gnolls led by vicious individuals, such as the once notorious Hogger and Sergeant Brashclaw.

History[]

World of Warcraft[]

WoW Icon update This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

Their villainous hold over southern Elwynn Forest was one that the forces at Westbrook Garrison sought to alleviate. From Forest's Edge, Hogger led his Riverpaws into battle. Sergeant Brashclaw had a hold over the far reaches of Westfall while Fedfennel headed the Riverpaw presence at Stone Cairn Lake. Evidence also supported rumors that the Riverpaw may have been in a loose alliance with the Defias Brotherhood. Their leaders dropped a document known as The Collector's Schedule indicating that there was payment being processed between the Defias and the Riverpaws. Morgan the Collector conducted the relevant transactions of gold. Wiley the Black also revealed that the Defias were working with gnolls, kobolds, and goblins — clearly hinting at a pact between Hogger and Edwin VanCleef.

The Riverpaw became a more ominous threat, raiding farms and human villages throughout Elwynn forest. Many speculated that the historically dimwitted gnolls had conspired with another force, which was equipping them with weapons, tactical leadership, and magic. Though it is unclear what the gnolls were after, the Stormwind Marshals then realized that the creatures posed an obvious threat to the kingdom and were to be eradicated.[1]

Cataclysm[]

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

After Hogger and some of his gnolls were captured, they were arrested and imprisoned in the Stormwind Stockade. Following the events of the Cataclysm, Hogger and his gnolls took over a part of the Stockade. Jango Spothide rose up to lead the remaining free gnolls.[3]

After the Fourth War[]

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Since Hogger's death, the Riverpaw gnolls became less well-organized, and the Westfall Brigade works with the SI:7 to keep the gnolls at bay.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Hogger seems to be the most famous of all Warcraft gnolls, maybe second to Sayge from the Darkmoon Faire. Hogger's fame is exemplified by the amount of times players of level 5 and below have formed 40-man raids to defeat him.
  • Riverpaw gnolls were supposed to appear in H [10-60] The Stormwind Extraction.
