Biography[]
Childhood[]
Salandria's parents were killed in a war. As a result, she grew up at the Shattrath orphanage from the time she was a baby.[1] She was friends with the sporeling Hch'uu until the latter was taken back to Sporeggar by her people.[2] Salandria wasn't sure what she wanted to be when she grew up, but thought about becoming a mage, warlock, or Blood Knight. She also considered becoming a rock star, since she was a big fan of Elite Tauren Chieftain and their song "Power of the Horde".[3]
During Children's Week, a Horde adventurer agreed to look after Salandria, who—having never stepped foot outside Shattrath before—had prepared a list of places she wanted to visit.[1] She asked them to take her to visit the Throne of the Elements to meet the Furies, since she'd have to learn about the elements if she wanted to become a mage or warlock. Elementalist Sharvak commented that the girl wouldn't be able to form a deep connection to the world on account of being a blood elf, but that exposure to the elements might give her some insight into them.[4] Salandria also asked to see Hch'uu in Sporeggar (after catching up with each other, the two friends agreed that they also wanted to become adventurers when they grew up),[2] as well as the Stair of Destiny in Hellfire Peninsula, which she had heard stories of from the orphan matrons. Impressed by the sight of the Dark Portal, she then insisted on visiting the other side of the portal as well.[5]
She asked to be taken to the Blood Knights' Hall of Blood in Silvermoon City, where she unexpectedly displayed the ability to channel power from the imprisoned naaru M'uru. This impressed the Blood Knight matriarch Lady Liadrin, who decided that Salandria belonged with the paladins and told the adventurer that she'd petition Orphan Matron Mercy to send the child to their custody for training.[6] Salandria also asked the adventurer to take her to the Caverns of Time to see a bronze dragon. On arrival, the bronzes reacted strangely: two Wardens of Time moved to attack her, but Zaladormu intervened and said that the girl "will not be held accountable for what she might do, or fail to do, in the future". Before they left, the adventurer bought Salandria a toy dragon souvenir, and she stated that she planned to own a real dragon some day.[7]
Finally, the adventurer brought Salandria back to the orphanage, and she gave them one of her favorite pets to remember her by.[8] Some time thereafter, she sent the adventurer a letter to tell them that Liadrin had asked that she be released into the Blood Knights' custody for training.[9]
Shadowlands[]
By the end of the war against the Jailer, a decade later, Salandria had grown up to become a trainee of the Blood Knights. When the resurging Scourge attacked the Ghostlands, Liadrin decided to call Salandria and other trainees into action since there wasn't enough time to wait for reinforcements from the rest of the Horde. The matriarch sent Salandria and Crusader Dawnheart to scout beyond the Dead Scar. The young knight was excited to finally see action after her long training,[10] but Liadrin privately told a blood elf adventurer to keep an eye on the girl, who had never faced a real test before despite excelling in her training.[11] While scouting near Deatholme, Salandria discovered that the undead's leader, the san'layn Vorath, was using crystals to resurrect himself every time he was killed, which she reported back to Liadrin, Aethas, and Rommath in Tranquillien.[12]
Liadrin sent the adventurer and Salandria into the Shadowlands to ask for the kyrian and the Maldraxxi's help in empowering a ranseur that could defeat Vorath.[13][14] In Bastion, the kyrian Vandellor challenged the hero and Salandria to a race through Agthia's Repose to prove that their hearts were pure. Despite Vandellor's warning, Salandria stubbornly made an unsuccessful attempt at a shortcut, but the adventurer completed the challenge and the kyrian empowered the ranseur. Vandellor noted that he felt a pang of remembrance at Salandria's familiar presence, but he was unable to pinpoint the reason since he had removed his mortal memories when he became a kyrian.[15] In Maldraxxus, the gladiator Fightlord San tricked the elves into an unfair fight against his ally Frisson atop the Theater of Pain in order to prove their strength. After they won the fight, San was impressed and gave his own empowerment to the ranseur as well.[16] The elves returned to Tranquillien with the completed weapon.[17]
Salandria, Liadrin, and Dawnheart went to the gates of Deatholme while the adventurer used the ranseur to destroy the Scourge in the Dead Scar.[18] The elves then entered Deatholme and attacked and killed Vorath himself. When the adventurer used the ranseur on the san'layn's body, however, he rose again as an undead monster in a blast that would've killed Salandria and Dawnheart if it wasn't for a shield conjured by Liadrin. The elves then fought Vorath again and destroyed him for good.[19] Afterward, Salandria admitted that she still had lessons to learn. She and Dawnheart accompanied Liadrin back to the Hall of Blood in Silvermoon, where they attended a ceremony to honor the adventurer.[20]
