Samaara is the older sister of Yrel initially found in Embaari Village. Yrel can only remember being cared for by Samaara; it is unknown what happened to their parents.
After reuniting with her sister, Samaara goes to fight against the Shadowmoon clan. She was captured by Ner'zhul at Teluuna Observatory and taken into Shaz'gul.
By the time Yrel, the Alliance commander, and Prophet Velen rescued her at the Terrace of the Stars, she was beyond saving. She gave her little sister loving encouragement to be strong before passing away, her soul leaving her mortal shell and disappearing. This becomes the turning point for Yrel, who vows to become strong to protect their people, and crush the Iron Horde to do so.
As an Exarch, Yrel was determined to go down fighting Gul'dan's Hellfire Citadel forces if necessary in memory of all those that died to get the draenei that far, including her sister.
