Sansok Khan is the khan of the Shikaar centaur in the Ohn'ahran Plains. She is deaf and communicates through sign language. She is always accompanied by her interpreter, Okir, and her hearing dog, Basran. Sansok is well-liked by Clan Shikaar, being their most skilled hunter, a trusted leader and mentor, and a fierce defender of the Maruuk.[1] Her spiritual advisor is Ohn Seshteng.[2]

Biography[]

Since a very young age, Sansok has personally trained bakar to serve as her hearing dogs during hunts.[3] Her first kill was a powerful icy bear deep in the Azure Span tundra, which made her and her bakar the talk of the Khural.[4] Sansok's current companion, Basran, is her third bakar and the son of her first. Most members of Clan Shikaar know sign language and can speak with Sansok on their own, but many others cannot and instead communicate with her through her interpreter, Okir.[3]

After the green dragonflight returned to the Ohn'ahran Plains, Sansok prepared the Shikaar at Timberstep Outpost to travel to Maruukai for the Khural gathering. The other clans and the rest of the Shikaar had already traveled to the city, and Sansok's caravan was the last to set out.[5] The Primalist leader Koroleth approached Sansok and tried to convince her to ally with them, but the khan refused.[6] At the same time, adventurers came to the Ohn'ahran Plains to make contact with the green dragons. Scout Tomul introduced the outsiders to Sansok, who shared that the dragons would be sending an emissary to the Khural and agreed to bring the adventurers along on the journey if they lent their aid to the clan.[1]

During the Shikaar caravan's journey to Maruukai, Ohn Seshteng received a bad omen from Ohn'ahra,[7] and Sansok stated that the Shikaar should be on their guard when they arrived in Maruukai.[8] Once in the city, Sansok sent the outsiders to learn more about the Maruuk by acquainting themselves with the other major clans: Nokhud,[9] Ohn'ir,[10] and Teerai.[11] Shortly after, the dragons' emissary Gemisath arrived, and Sansok went with Okir and Basran to speak to Khanam Matra Sarest atop the city's krutal.[12] Sarest agreed to honor the ancient pact between the Maruuk and the green dragons, but the Nokhud's leader Balakar Khan interrupted the meeting by revealing his allegiance with the Primalists and killing Gemisath.[13] After adventurers saved the city from Balakar's forces, Sarest told Sansok and Tigari Khan to prepare their clans for war.[14]

Later, Scout Tomul reported to the khans that the Nokhud had attacked the Horn of Drusahl. Sarest went with the adventurers to confront the Nokhud, and ordered Sansok and Tigari to prepare their clans to march on Nokhudon Hold once Ohn'ahra had been found and she had blown the Horn to summon the green dragons.[15] Shortly after, Sarest told Tomul to inform the khans about a change of plans: instead of heading to Nokhudon Hold, they would march to the Emerald Gardens and join the dragons against the Primalists.[16] During the battle against the Primalists in the Storm Scar, Sansok and Okir guarded the southern edge of the battlefield alongside Guard-Captain Alowen. After the Primalists were defeated, the green dragon Merithra invited the khans to join her at the Ancient Bough,[17][18] where they held a ceremony to empower the Emerald Oathstone and renew the ancient pact between dragons and centaur through an exchange of ceremonial gifts. Sansok's gift, representing Clan Shikaar, was the ceremonial spear she'd earned from her first hunt.[19]
