The Savage Thicket

Savage Thicket.

The Savage Thicket is a section of the jungle that endlessly burns with magical fire, located north of the Glimmering Pillar in the Sholazar Basin. It is bordered on the east by the Bonefields, Glimmering Pillar to the southeast, to the south by Mistwhisper Refuge, to the southwest by Dorian's Outpost, and by Spearborn Encampment to the west. This area is similar to Ember Clutch in Howling Fjord.

The fire here never spreads beyond certain bounds, and it also never runs out of fuel within. This is where the proto-dragons of the region live wild, flapping between the burning trees. The vrykul come here to capture wild proto-drakes to ride or when they need fresh blood amongst the ones they keep in their villages. According to Muradin Bronzebeard, this area may even be where the proto-dragons first came from, though that's only a theory on his part.[1]

Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard reported that the proto-dragons are still present, and the vrykul continue to come here.[1]
