The Scarlet Bastion, formerly known as the Bastion of the Silver Hand,[1] is located in the western districts of the ruined city of Stratholme, in the plaza known as the Crusaders' Square. It contains the Hall of Lights, the Hoard, and the Crimson Throne.
It was formerly the barracks of the Knights of the Silver Hand,[2] and housed countless of their treasures.[3] Some time after the Scourge took control of Stratholme, the bastion was taken over by Scarlet Crusade and its Crimson Legion. Balnazzar, disguised as Saidan Dathrohan, made his stand there.
After the Cataclysm, Balnazzar shed its human disguise, killed every member of the crusade and raised them as undead forming the group called the Risen. After defeating the dreadlord, the Argent Crusade occupied the bastion.
In the RPG[]
The Scarlet Bastion serves as a small outpost in the undead-infested city of Stratholme. Grand Crusader Dathrohan struggles to hold the Scarlet Crusade stronghold. He coordinates the fight for control of the ravaged city. It is manned by members of the Crimson Legion, the elite guard of the Crusade. It is the Scarlet Crusade's holiest site. The Scarlet Bastion is where the Scarlet Crusade first formed, and where the founding members took their oaths.[4]
Notes[]
- Following Tirion's trial for protecting the orc Eitrigg, this is where Artist Renfray hid her painting [Of Love and Family], which could no longer be seen in public, by placing it behind an Unfinished Painting of Azeroth's twin moons inside the Bastion.[5] Years later, the painting was collected by adventurers sent by Crusade Commander Eligor Dawnbringer to be brought back to Mardenholde Keep, in Hearthglen.[6][7]
- As of patch 3.2, the requirement for the [The Scarlet Key] to open the door has been removed.
- The building is present in Old Stratholme but cannot be accessed.
