Patch changes[]
- Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Duration decreased to 3 seconds in PvP combat (was 4 seconds).
- Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 6 class talent (was a level 20 Marksmanship PvP talent).
- Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now available at level 20 (was 40).
- Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Now a PvP talent (was a rank 25 honor talent). Damage is now based on attack power (was 35% of weapon damage).
- Patch 7.2.5 (2017-06-13): Now replaces [Bursting Shot]. Cooldown increased to 30 seconds to match Bursting Shot.
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Re-added as a rank 25 Marksmanship honor talent (was a level 15 ability). Now removes all harmful damage over time effects from the target and deals 35% weapon damage (was 50%).
- Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Removed.
- Patch 5.3.0 (2013-05-21): Now shares diminishing returns with [Freezing Trap] and [Wyvern Sting].
- Hotfix (2012-10-04): Scatter Shot will now properly break when damage is dealt by any source.
- Hotfix (2011-05-05): The Disorient effect from Scatter Shot should no longer immediately break if Scatter Shot hits the target immediately after a buff on the target fades.

- Patch 1.5.0 (2005-06-07): Special ability shots no longer add the ranged weapon speed or take into account ranged weapon haste when determining the actual cooldown. The tooltip and cooldown timers should now properly reflect the actual cooldown.
- Patch 1.4.0 (2005-04-19): Now usable while moving and no longer interrupts ranged combat. Now properly reduces the ranged attack power contribution by the percent modifier.
