The Scourge Gryphon serves as a flight path taxi between Acherus: The Ebon Hold and Death's Breach during the starting instance for Death Knights. They also ferry players from Light's Point back to Death's Breach after annihilating 200 Scarlet Fleet Defenders while on the quest 
[8-30] Massacre At Light's Point.
