The Scythe of Souls in Hearthstone.
The Scythe of Souls is a powerful weapon wielded by the demon hunter Allari the Souleater. She calls it an artifact, like the ones wielded by adventurers.[1] It is implied to be sentient to some extent and can communicate with her.[2] The scythe can trap the souls of demons within it.[3] In addition, its power can inflict burning pain on demons,[4] which Allari frequently uses as a torture method while interrogating demons.[5][6][7][8][9] During the Illidari's confrontation with Akama in the Black Temple, if the demon hunter adventurer picked Kayn Sunfury as their second-in-command, Allari uses the Scythe of Souls to recreate the Shade of Akama by ripping it out of Akama's body.[10]

- The scythe uses the same model as the [Spooky Scythe].
- Allari and the scythe are a reference to the Japanese series Soul Eater, in which the main character also uses a sentient scythe.
- The scythe appears (under the name Souleater's Scythe) as a legendary demon hunter weapon in the March of the Lich King expansion for Hearthstone. Its flavor text reads: "Would you like those souls for here or to-go?"
