- For the critter, see Seal.
Seal abilities are paladin self-buffs. Only one Seal can be active on the paladin at any one time.
General information[]
- A Seal is a self-buff aura which boosts the paladin's power.
- Seals cause an additional effect to occur on successful melee attacks. These effects vary greatly, from returning mana or health to causing high amounts of Holy damage.
- All seals are treated as a magic-type non-dispellable buff.
- All seals cause a 1-second global cooldown, as opposed to the usual 1.5 seconds.
Available seals[]
Seal name | Seal description | Level | Spec |
---|---|---|---|
[Seal of Command] | Fills you with Holy Light, causing melee attacks to deal 10% additional Holy damage. | 3 | Baseline |
[Seal of Truth] | Fills you with Holy Light, causing melee attacks to deal 12% additional Holy damage and apply Censure to the target, which deals additional Holy damage over 15 sec. Censure can stack up to 5 times. Replaces Seal of Command. |
24 | Baseline |
[Seal of Insight] | Fills you with Holy Light, increasing your casting speed by 10%, improving healing spells by 5% and giving melee attacks a chance to heal you for X. | 32 | Baseline |
[Seal of Righteousness] | Fills you with Holy Light, causing melee attacks to deal 6% weapon damage to all targets within 8 yards. | 42 | Baseline |
[Seal of Justice] | Fills you with Holy Light, causing melee attacks to deal 16% additional Holy damage and reduce the target's movement speed by 50% for 8 sec. | 70 | Retribution |
Usage[]
- [Seal of Insight] is usually the best seal for healing. It can also be useful when the Paladin is in low on health.
- [Seal of Truth] is the best seal for maximizing damage to a single target.
- [Seal of Righteousness] is generally the best seal for AoE damage against three or more targets.
- [Seal of Justice] is only available to Retribution Paladins and is useful for PvP. It can also be better than [Seal of Truth] on single foes if the fight is short.
A part of playing a Paladin well is recognizing which Seal to use and when to break conventional guidelines according to the situation.
Removed Seals[]
Seal name | Seal description | Judgement description | School | Removed |
---|---|---|---|---|
[Seal of Fury] | Fills the Paladin with divine fury, allowing melee attacks to cause additional threat. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will judge the target, causing Holy damage spells cast on that enemy to generate additional threat. | Protection | Patch 1.9.0 |
[Seal of the Crusader] | Fills the Paladin with the spirit of the crusader, granting additional attack power and increasing attack speed, though each melee attack will deal less damage. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will judge the target, increasing Holy damage taken. | Holy | Patch 3.0.2 |
[Seal of Blood] [Seal of the Martyr] |
All melee attacks cause additional Holy damage, but the Paladin takes damage proportional to the damage dealt. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will judge the target, causing a large amount of Holy damage to both the target and the Paladin. | Retribution | Patch 3.2.0 |
[Seal of Corruption] [Seal of Vengeance] |
Fills the Paladin with holy power, causing attacks to apply Blood Corruption / Holy Vengeance, which deals additional Holy damage over 15 sec. Blood Corruption / Holy Vengeance can stack up to 5 times. Once stacked to 5 each weapon swing from the Paladin will deal additional Holy damage. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will judge an enemy, instantly causing Holy damage to an enemy, increased for each application of Blood Corruption / Holy Vengeance on the target. | Retribution | Patch 4.0.1 |
[Seal of Command] | All melee attacks deal additional Holy damage to up to 3 targets in front of the Paladin. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will judge an enemy, instantly causing Holy damage. | Retribution | Patch 4.0.1 |

[Seal of Wisdom] | Fills the Paladin with divine wisdom, giving each melee attack a chance to restore mana. | Unleashing this Seal's energy will cause Holy damage to an enemy. | Holy | Patch 4.0.1 |
