PvENordrassil

A nicely populated realm with some good PvE action, AV premades and forum drama. However if you are looking for PVP action, you will want to be on the Horde side, or better yet, a pvp server.

Forum Trolls

Nordrassil has carried the mantle of a 'carebear' realm for months, and as such frequents the realm of online drama, both in-game and in the realm forums. The most notable piece of drama in recent memory has been the "Nordrassil Top News" thread [125], which boasts an enormous amount of views and replies. The orchestrator of the thread, Crystals, snipes at Nordrassil's major guilds as a level 2 female Dwarven rogue (he is clearly a trend breaker). The identity of Crystals is still unknown, although he has circulated a screenshot of himself at level 75. Rumoured to be a member of an well known Alliance Guild. All of the racial leader NPCs accept [Crystals' Head] turn-ins in stacks of five.

Another Troll that frequents the Nordrassil forums is an arrogant ex member of the realm that left to seek greener pastures. The guild still survives in one form or another and has progressed but said player still finds it pleasing to come back and insult his old home. His old routine of ZOMG I IS LIKE SO AWESOME , which he sadly probably believes , is generally followed by a barage of low alts condemning him and his words . This is then answered with his usual smarmy replies about getting people to bite like fish. He would have us believe that he's a real player in game and in the real world but his childish remarks speak for themselves. Lets all pray he'll go away and combust.

On the other hand, Nordrassil is occasionally visited by two other 'trolls', Jahmaan and Labrax. Both concentrate on comedic and entertaining posts to lift the spirits of Nordrassil. Jahmaan often focuses on guides for players, while Labrax prefers the dramatic approach, often involving his characters Borax and Droodman, although he is not above taking a cheap shot at himself. Both have received mentions on the WoW Europe front page, although Lab is often rejected due to his criticism of the game and the lore surrounding it. Jahmaan's guide to new players remains one of the most viewed topics on the Nordrassil forums.

Jahmaan is rumored to have a liking of short, hairy, muscle-bound men with smelly arm pits and bad breath (in RL that is, what he likes in game is anyones guess).

Labrax has a lot of fun talking in the third person and greatly enjoyed writing this paragraph. Although nobody knows who he is.

Honorable, a troll who just spams a stupid joke saying to walk away from a Xbox 360, by turning 360, what a retard, yet people still go "if you turn around 360 you will be facing it" the maturity of it all amuses most.

Kenkel, agreed by everyone, the worst player you will ever meet in game, a guy who cannot play, raid lead, tank, or even speak the slightest bit of English, or even insult you, so watch out or you will be called a child by this blatantly obvious 12 year old, P.S. Kenkel, your shit, stop playing :) - LOL.

You might have noticed the fact that all these trolls are Alliance

The Lesser Realm

Nordrassil's other name. In its battlegroup Nordrassil is consider rather 'backwater' to its unfriendly sister realms. Especially those such as Magtheridon, the realm in which-obviously-everyone is a member of Ensidia and rides on the back of their success in PvE.

However it cannot be denied that the other realms in Conviction Battlegroup have steamed ahead of Nordrassil in PvE progress in the past. Yet the inhabitants of Nordrassil thrive on the drama and social lives, which have been the downfall of this lesser realm's PvE progress. There is very little Nordrassilian guilds now that have progress that compares to other servers, namely Fallen Legion and Kyl lead the way for Nordrassil.

As for being the lesser realm in PvP, well look at our server tag and work it out for yourself.

Nordrassil's Alliance History

When Nordrassil went live in October 2005, its population quickly to favor to the Alliance. Within a few months, many guilds had rose up, probably the most memorable being Unit. Unit was the most progressed guild on the server due to raiding more than any other guild on the server. However, they quickly built up a reputation and it was not a good one. Whilst they achieved many server firsts, the first clear of Blackwing Lair was done by the guild Wildrunners. Wildrunners was quite a successful guild up until this point before many of their members were poached.

Unit were also the guild to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraq, with the Scarab Lord title going to Diane, a rogue who insisted Thunderfury was a bad weapon for rogues. Unit remained the most progressed guild on the server until the arrival of Mortalis due to a server transfer. Since then Mortalis was widely seen as the most progressed guild and due to their dedication into helping other members of the Horde community out, received good reputation, unlike Unit.

Despite Unit being about, there is actually more to the server then them. Other alliance guilds of this time during classic include Fallen Legion, Phoenix Rising, Saga, Sky, Splinter, The Fellowship Elites (in caps), Virtue and Wildrunners. Mystic for example, was a casual guild who were progressing through Blackwing Lair when the TBC patch hit. No one expected them to become one the best guilds on the server. The Conclave had just begun Blackwing Lair. Omega had just downed Nefarian. The Gauntlet and The Fellowship Elites had both just hit AQ40 and defeated the Prophet Skeram. Fallen Legion went on the become the most progressed alliance guild on the server. Virtue took their first steps into Naxxramas. Splinter was created by Boru and was essentially a guild created from Unit.

Saga despite its good reputation and friendly players, disbanded with the launch of the Burning Crusade. Phoenix Rising have a more complicated history. They decided to merge and transfer server, however Bubbles, decided to rebuild Phoenix Rising on Nordrassil and was actually successful, but did not have the same success and glory they once had. Sky too, disbanded during TBC. Splinter also merged and disbanded during TBC.

The Fellowship Elites went on to become Oíche Deithí (the name nobody could say) during TBC, and then Scarred in WoTLK, which merged with Arise and became Hotfixed. Virtue became Last Legion in TBC and are still raiding to this day. Wildrunners is also still about, but is now a small guild with none of its former members.

The era of TBC came about, due to introduction of 25 mans instead of 40 and many guilds suffered from this change. Much instance farming and attunements were completed for Karazhan which was not so easy to begin with. Many guilds wiped on Shade of Aran. During which time, Horde quickly became to more favoured side for PVE on Nordrassil, with Immune and various other members from other guilds formed Kwaiden who followed swiftly behind Precedent (ex-Mortalis) in progress. The guild Champions also became Prepared and progressed as well.

Soon enough, SSC was released and around this time, Nordrassil was very happy to hear that Unit was leaving for Silvermoon. Shortly after transferring there, they were mocked and of course, they split. With very few alliance guilds clearing SSC and TK compared to Horde, alliance progress was not too great. Nonetheless, many guilds succeeded through most of these raid dungeons, namely Afterlife, Paranoia, Oíche Deithí, Prepared, Last Legion, Phoenix Rising, Pro Finlandia and of course, Fallen Legion, Mystic and The Gauntlet.

A guild known as Greyskull at this time, was reborn as Arise and quickly caught up in progress, and let us not forget Midnight Storm who seemed to come about out of no where. Ginnunga was also formed, with their mothership guild based on Stormreaver.

Along came the nerf patch, many guilds skipped attunement and dived into Hyjal and Black Temple. However, the alliance were beaten to defeating Illidian first by the horde.

Sunwell came about, and guilds quickly found it was not an easy walk in the park. However, due to what we can presume was guild drama on the horde side, Fallen Legion quickly gained the lead and led the way into Sunwell Plateau and retained their rank as the most progressed guild alliance side to this date. At this time, Precedent disbanded, becoming Mortalis once again, but no longer retained the strong lead on progress as they once did. Around this time, Oíche Deithí reformed under the name Scarred and did reasonably well in the beginning of the next expansion.

Along comes Wrath of the Lich King and as well a barrage of guild recruitment posts on the forums as well as trade chat. This is what can presumed to Blizzard's introduction of both 10 and 25 man version of raid instances, leaving many small guilds to form and big guilds to need recruits.

As expected, Fallen Legion quickly storm their way through content (not that it was very challenging) and were the first to clear Naxxramas and Obsidian Sanctum. Valio on the horde side however, beat them to the server first of Malygos and Sartharian with 3 drakes up. At this time, OS+3 drakes, Malygos in under 6 minutes and Glory of the Raider were the most challenging content to clear and only a handful of guilds managed it. Midnight storm decided to transfer, but failed and many of its members came back to form Momentum. Veto was born out of the ashes of Immortality.

However, to the alliance populations dismay, Boru attempted to rebuild Unit on Nordrassil. Despite initial success, they quickly began dying when Ulduar came about and sort a merge with Scarred. Scarred was also struggling, so it is understandable why they would accept the members of Unit... However, Scarred quickly lost more members and merged with Arise to form Hotfixed within a couple of months.

As the summer period came about, recruitment from all guilds was more demanding then ever. Fallen Legion had opened up most classes, but having to rely on realm transfers to really get its desired player base. Last Legion also suffered, having to take months to down Yogg-Saron, even after the 3.2 patch.

However, there was a weird phenomina going about. Many guilds that were about in TBC suddenly seemed to complete a lot of the raid content available. Now many previously unknown guilds to the Nordrassil progress thread were springing up, they were not bad guilds at all, but were not expected to progress that far either. Pride of St. George, Veterans, Heaven Reborn, Sworn, Delight were all doing well.

Fallen Legion still leads the way in alliance progress, with The Gauntlet and Mystic following behind. Pro Finlandia, being an all Finnish guild, also stayed strong throughout on progress.

The above is just an opinion and experience of the Nordrassil server from someone whose been playing since its launch. Its better then the drivvle about Unit that was here before.

Nordrassil's Horde History

Wrath of the Lich king was released and every fellow horde started leveling as fast as they could. The most successful horde levelers were Kotomi, Desther, Chromean and Mukharn by far the others and managed to get the Realm First achievements.

After about 4-5 Days Valio managed to get their first 25man raid and cleared OS, Naxx 25 in one day. The next day they accomplished the Realm First! Malygos achievement. It didn't take long either when Valio got their server first OS 3D either and Ground Zero came after. Both these guilds though had hard times getting The Immortal achievement from Naxx, and they never did. Valio lost their hope at the early starts and Ground Zero was more on to do all the bosses as fast as they could.

After 3 Months from the OS3D kill most of the Valio members started quitting which made the guild itself recruit really really bad people, which was then shown in Ulduar 3 months later when released; Ground Zero catched up and got the first kill on Yogg-Saron. Pretty much when the time went past a handfull of old members of Valio started feel really bad about clearing Ulduar lots of times on normal mode, and they left and joined Ground Zero. Valio was full of GM asslickers at this point.

However summer came and Ground Zero disbanded and Kyl was formed by the ex Valio officers and raiders. They quickly started doing progress in Ulduar 10 with T6 on and quickly started going for the hardmodes, and eventually got the horde first Algalon kill on 10man.

A week before TOGC 25 was released Kyl decided to take the step to 25 mans and to make the guild international, which made Lords of Retardia and Valio disband. Kyl was really successful all times, they managed to get Realm First! Celestial Defender, Realm First! Alone in the Darkness and Realm First! Grand Crusader while their journey to Icecrown Citadel.

If in doubt AFK out split and formed Semi Detached, the other went to Phoenix and staid there as casuals. Semi Detached got some competition with Kyl in TOGC 25, and nearly stole their Realm First achievement, but they didn't.

Currently Kyl is leading on the realm progress and it doesn't look like Fallen Legion or Semi Detached will defeat them.

Life on Nodrassil will go on, long live carebears and long may Nordrassil continue.

Nordrassil Terms

  • Lagdrassil

During the days of Vanilla WoW and early TBC, Nordrassil experienced some of its worse lag to date. Although it be not as bad as many other high popluated servers, Nordrassil had a well known reputation for being the server to always receive extended maintenance.

Probably the most famous guild to ever grace the Nordrassil server. Described by its creator Romyna as "A STRONG GUILD BUILT IN 3 DAYS!" it soon became legendary to the common folk on the server. This was mainly due to the constant spamming of the aforementioned phrase constantly in city general (or IF general, it was so long ago I don't think the city channels were linked) and a few legendary threads on the realm forum.

Can anyone confirm if they disbanded or fell apart?

A well known rogue to both horde and alliance. Suspected of having his hearthstone set in Ironforge. Departed the server in late 2008.
