Shadow Embrace is a level 58 Affliction warlock passive ability that causes [Haunt] and [Shadow Bolt] (or [Drain Soul] if talented) to apply a stacking magic debuff to the target, increasing their damage taken from the caster.

Patch changes

  • Shadowlands Patch 9.1.0 (PTR):
    • Shadow Embrace is no longer learned at level 58 and is now a talent option on the level 45 row.
    • Now lasts 16 seconds (was 12 seconds) and can now only be applied to 1 target at a time.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): No longer a Talent, and learned by all affliction warlocks at level 58. Can now be applied by [Haunt]. Duration increased to 12 seconds (up from 10).
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Re-added as a level 90 affliction talent. No longer applied by Haunt.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Removed.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): No longer reduces periodic healing on the target. Reduced to 3 ranks, now increase damage over time effect by 3/4/5%.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.3.2 (2010-02-01): This effect can now stack up to 3 times, up from 2. However, the periodic healing reduction effect has been reduced from 3/6/9/12/15% to 2/4/6/8/10% per application.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): Now only increases the damage done by your shadow damage periodic spells.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): This talent completely changed with version 3 of World of Warcraft. Previously it reduced physical damage done by the target by 5%, and did not stack.
  • Bc icon.gif Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13): This talent's effect can no longer trigger other effects.
  • Bc icon.gif Patch 2.2.0 (2007-09-25): The effect from this talent will no longer last indefinitely if applied while charmed by an NPC.
  • Bc icon.gif Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05): Added.
