Shadow Protection grants 195 Shadow resistance at level 85.
This spell is somewhat useful against warlocks and shadow priests as it significantly boosts your resistance to shadow spells. However it is best used in a group setting against mobs that deal shadow damage.

Shadow Protection does not stack with passive racial Shadow resistance buffs such as , but it does provide more than twice the resistance.
- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Removed.
- Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): The mana cost of [Shadow Protection] has been reduced by approximately 65%, making it roughly equal to the cost of [Mark of the Wild].
- Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): The old versions of Shadow Protection and were replaced with a new Shadow Protection spell, which is trainable at level 56, has a single rank and scales with level. Like the old Shadow Protection, it has no reagent cost, and like the old Prayer of Shadow Protection, it will splash to the caster's entire party or raid group and lasts 1 hour. Any characters who knew the old will know the new Shadow Protection.
