Shadow Protection is a Priest buff that increases a friendly target's Shadow resistance. If the target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
Notes[]
Shadow Protection grants 195 Shadow resistance at level 85.
This spell is somewhat useful against warlocks and shadow priests as it significantly boosts your resistance to shadow spells. However it is best used in a group setting against mobs that deal shadow damage.
As a magical effect, Shadow Protection can be dispelled by abilities such as [Dispel Magic] and [Shield Slam].
Shadow Protection does not stack with passive racial Shadow resistance buffs such as [Shadow Resistance], but it does provide more than twice the resistance.
Improvements[]
Talents[]
- [Mental Agility]: Reduces the mana cost of your instant cast spells by 4/7/10%.
Glyphs[]
- [Glyph of Shadow Protection]: Increases the duration of your Shadow Protection spell by 10 min.
Patch changes[]
- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Removed.
- Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): The mana cost of [Shadow Protection] has been reduced by approximately 65%, making it roughly equal to the cost of [Mark of the Wild].
- Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): The old versions of Shadow Protection and [Prayer of Shadow Protection] were replaced with a new Shadow Protection spell, which is trainable at level 56, has a single rank and scales with level. Like the old Shadow Protection, it has no reagent cost, and like the old Prayer of Shadow Protection, it will splash to the caster's entire party or raid group and lasts 1 hour. Any characters who knew the old [Prayer of Shadow Protection] will know the new Shadow Protection.
