Silverwind Refuge is located in south-central Ashenvale, just north of Mystral Lake and directly south of the Remains of Iris Lake and Thunder Peak. It is a Horde outpost with a flight master, an innkeeper, quest givers, a stable master, and vendors. The corpses of some of the previous inhabitants still lie on the ground around the outpost. The main building that functions as an inn has a beautiful view on the lake that borders it.

The quest H [10-30] We're Here to Do One Thing, Maybe Two... from Blood Guard Aldo Rockrain begins the Horde quest line for Stonetalon Mountains.

History[]

Silverwind Refuge

Silverwind Refuge prior to the Cataclysm.

World of Warcraft[]

WoW Icon update This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

Prior to the Cataclysm Silverwind Refuge was a night elven settlement that contained an alchemy trainer, an herbalism trainer, a hunter trainer, a pet trainer, quest givers, a skinning trainer, and vendors. It was under the protection of an elite guard known as the Sentinels and their army of water elementals. It was a major outpost in Ashenvale along with Astranaar, which once lived up to its name—a welcoming place with a comparatively luxurious inn.[1]

Cataclysm[]

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

The night elves thought Silverwind to be impenetrable, with its heavy defenses and their army of water elementals. However, during the Horde attack, by the time of the Cataclysm, one of their mages was able to summon a twisted elemental designed to send the night elven water elementals into a chaotic rage.[2] With the enraged elementals attacking all they saw before them, victory was assured for the Horde.

The surviving night elves fled to the nearby Stardust Spire and vowed revenge for the loss of the outpost. The orcs had slaughtered Sentinels and civilians alike, and they hunted down those who tried to flee, letting their bodies rot in the road as a brutal warning to anyone who would try to retake Silverwind Refuge.[1] The orcs proceed to use the outpost as a starting point for their push into the surrounding regions. Not long after, the Horde set up logging operations in the surrounding area and begun to clear the forest.

At some point after the events of the Cataclysm, a small army of Sentinels led by Anaris Windwood reclaimed Silverwind from the Horde.[1]

Battle for Azeroth[]

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

By the time of the War of the Thorns, Silverwind Refuge was considered a night elven outpost and a center of Sentinel's presence.[1][3] It would later fall to the Horde while they marched through Ashenvale.

Some time later after the Burning of Teldrassil, Sentinels from Stardust Spire launched an assault to retake Silverwind Refuge from the Horde. There, they faced off Valusha.[4]
