The Slave Pens are the first 5-man wing within the Coilfang Reservoir. The instance is harder than both the Blood Furnace and the Hellfire Ramparts, but the loot drops are of much greater quality.
Background[]
- Main article: Coilfang Reservoir
Here, concealed by the cold fathoms, Lady Vashj's naga ply their resources - the exotic flora and fauna of the cavernous Underbog, the Broken who toil in their claustrophobic Slave Pens, and the arcane machinery they've constructed in the Steamvault - towards a catastrophic goal set forth by Illidan the Betrayer. Unopposed, they will drain Zangarmarsh's waters, and claim dominion over the dry bog that remains.[1]
Dungeon Journal[]
Coilfang Reservoir is the name for a naga-dominated compound that lurks under Zangarmarsh's deepest waters. The reservoir, punctured throughout by massive open pipes and pistons, seems big enough to house armies - and, yet, its purpose isn't strictly military.

Notes[]

The Slave Pens
- In Heroic Mode, the Slave Pens holds Skar'this the Heretic prisoner. He begins and ends the quest which allowed players to enter the Serpentshrine Cavern. The quest involves killing Gruul the Dragonkiller and Nightbane in Karazhan. As of patch 2.1.2, Serpentshrine Cavern no longer has a required attunement to enter. The attunement quest chain remains in-game, and can be completed if desired.
- Starting with 2008, the Midsummer Fire Festival features a new boss in Slave Pens called Lord Ahune.
