Spears were an in-game weapon type during the development of World of Warcraft. The proficiency to use them could be learned by druids, hunters, and warriors.[1] Dulciea Frostmoon was a spear trainer.[citation needed]
With the game's full release, the spear weapon type was removed and all existing spear items were reclassified as polearms.
Patch changes[]
Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Spear proficiency has been removed. All spears are now polearms. 
Patch 0.10 (2004-09-18): Spears cannot be enchanted with 2H Weapon-only enchantments
