Steelsnap is one of many monster-hunting quests given by Melor Stonehoof in Thunder Bluff. In this quest, players are sent to Thousand Needles to kill the ferocious hyena, Steelsnap.

Bring Steelsnap's Rib to Melor Stonehoof in Thunder Bluff.
Description[]
At times we hunt for food. At times we hunt for honor. And at times we hunt to earn the Earthmother's teachings.
But the hunt I now set upon you is none of these things. It is to slay a creature outside the Earthmother's blessing.
The hyena Steelsnap roams the Thousand Needles, south of the Barrens. He is a tyrant, attracting other hyenas to him and spreading fear and bloodshed among more peaceful beasts.
Find Steelsnap, <name>. Find him, and defeat him.

- 2,450 XP
+100 or +250 reputation with Thunder Bluff

In defeating the creature Steelsnap, you have cleansed the Thousand Needles of a horrible taint.

How to get this quest: Melor Stonehoof can be found on Hunter Rise in Thunder Bluff, coordinates (61,80). Speak with him to receive this quest. Completion of [30] Melor Sends Word is NOT necessary to receive this quest.
Steelsnap wanders south of Camp E'thok in Thousand Needles (the north-western area), along with two level 29 hyenas. Because of these two additional mobs, this can be a difficult fight. Bringing a friend may be helpful.
After defeating Steelsnap and looting his rib, return to Melor Stonehoof in Thunder Bluff to turn in the quest.
