History[]

World of Warcraft[]

WoW Icon update This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

The Stonespires had lived in the southern Barrens for decades. It was a holy land to them, but they were driven out by numerous foes, including the quilboar of Razorfen Kraul. Auld Stonespire sent champions to end Charlga Razorflank and bring back her heart.[2]

Bael Modan was once a part of the lands that served as home and provider to the Stonespire tribe. It was the ancestral birthplace of many of them. Then the dwarves of Bael'dun came and began their disruptive excavation operations, forcing the tauren out and killing many innocent tauren in the process. The tauren tried to approach the dwarves to reach a diplomatic resolution, but it failed. Tired of waiting and angry about his tribe's persecution and destruction, Gann Stonespire sent a Horde champion to reclaim the journal of Prospector Khazgorm and retaliate against the dwarves, killing Khazgorm in the process.[3][4] After gathering supplies to make explosives,[5] the champion was tasked do use them to destroy a flying machine to show the dwarves a lesson.[1]

Cataclysm[]

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

During the Alliance offensive against the Horde settlements in the Barrens, Camp Taurajo was destroyed and other areas occupied by the Alliance military. Gann Stonespire was one of the mortally wounded. During their last raid to Bael'Dun Keep, Gann and his party managed to smuggle a goblin saboteur inside: Weezil Slipshadow.[6][7] A Horde champion was sent to assist him. The two sabotaged the artillery shells and the keep was destroyed in the explosion. Although the adventurer survived, Weezil did not. Either way, Gann was relived that Camp Taurajo and the tauren people had been avenged.[8] Nato Raintree removed the bullet that killed Gann from his chest and gave it to the Horde champion. He sent the champion to where Gann's family was in order to tell them about what became of him. Once in Brackenwall Village, the champion gave the bullet to Alto Stonespire. He knew Gann would die someday if he continued like that, but was thankful that the champion had gifted Gann with vengeance.[9]

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

While Gann Stonespire is a member of a tribe, technically there is no reference that it is called the Stonespire tribe. However, most other tauren last names refer to a tribe, Elder Stonespire is seen with the other tribal leaders such as Elder Bloodhoof and the NPCs with the Stonespire name tend to have specific skin tones, specifically grey and brown fur.
