gas cloud is just a descriptive term used to describe the clouds of gas that float throughout outland and northrend.

Okay. I saw some database had it as a "creature type" and wasn't sure if they made it up or it was an actual creature category. Rolandius

Technically it is a creature, but can't be targeted.... but thats how blizzard does things.
