Discovery chance?[]
It is supposedly possible to fail to discover anything when using this, but in 41 uses of the 'spell' I have yet to see that happen. Does anyone know the chance, or feel up to the task of finding it out? As stated above, I'm currently at 41 uses with the Inscription skill crawling slowly from 75 to 200, and I've gotten 41 discoveries. - Alltat (talk) 19:35, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Update: Took me 51 researches to learn the 51 discoveries that I had enough skill to learn. - Alltat (talk) 12:45, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
I just did it and didn't learn anything. I'm checking now to see if I simply have learned all minor glyphs. Vainamoinen 00:31, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
Relearn a learned glyph[]
If your skill isn't currently maxed and you use this, is it possible to re-learn a glyph you already know or will it produce an error? Is there anyway to tell if you have all minors glyphs at your level learned? Miryuki (talk) 07:04, December 16, 2009 (UTC)
- If you know all the glyphs you can get from Minor Inscription Research, you will get the random scrolls but no new glyph. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:03, December 16, 2009 (UTC)
In reply to both[]
The only way you will fail to discover a glyph is if you already know all possible minor glyphs based on your inscription level. This can lead to an appearance of a chance of failure when you are just under the next skill category for minor glyphs.
For example, if someone starts levelling by daily inscription research at 75 and learns all 22 minor glyphs for that skill category (75-99), they will be at 97 skill. If they made a couple glyphs for themself along the way (likely), they might happen to be at 99 skill. When they research that day, at 99 skill, they won't discover anything! They will still get the random by-product scrolls and the skill up. The next day, when they are at 100 skill, they will discover more recipes from the 100-124 category. It appears that they "randomly" did not discover anything, but really it was because of their skill level.
