  • There's error in your explanation: actually all NPC game objects (highlighted red if you've seen DikuMUD/CircleMUD default highlighting) are considered "mobile objects", including shopkeepers or otherwise stationary NPCs. Those that stay in place just have additional flag (STAY_ROOM, IIRC). Even players are special case of "mobile object". This is in opposition to items, (yellow highlighting) that can't perform any action or movement by itself (well, unless SPEC_PROC author have some twisted sense of humor, of course). --Rowaasr13 03:07, 10 January 2007 (EST)

I don't know if this is worth mentioning or not but I always learned that 'mob' stood for "monster or boss" which would fix the friendly NPC groupings and instead specify strictly attackable units. --Ndoki 19:57, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
