There should be some listing of each city and the quests offered therein.
- No, there shouldn't. But this was all discussed somewhere else I bet...--Hobinheim 21:33, 16 November 2006 (EST)
Archived Discussion from Questing[]
Below is a copy/paste of the discussion formerly at the Questing page.--Hobinheim 21:35, 16 November 2006 (EST)
Added and organized the areas by level. These are just a general level, based on quests, so they might not be completely accurate to the monsters in the region. -- RenegadeMyth 10:27, Dec 31st 2004 (PST)
Please don't put every level 1 and 2 or even 20 quest on here; the vast majority of quests don't need guides and/or can be found in Thottbot. The interesting things to put here would be quests that are difficult, confusing, or the many high level quests that have multiple steps spanning different zones/instances. I've nuked most of the sections; add the zone name as appropriate for a quest, so as not to clutter up the page with the dozens of 1-5 zones. -- Rustak 06:49, 7 Jan 2005 (EST)
Rustak - If that is the intention of this page, I recommend moving it to something like "Quests_of_Interest". We can then use "Category:Quests" as the main database of Quests. -- Laisren 19:31, 19 Jun 2005 (EDT)
Any resolution on what the aim/direction of the Quests page will be? Should we move this to a policy discussion? --Dracomage 13:11, 8 Dec 2005 (EST)

Rename?[]
It seems a little confusing to me to have two different articles named Quest and Quests; a lot of the links to this page seem like they would make a lot more sense going to Quest. Perhaps this article should be renamed something more descriptive, like List of quests by type, and have Quests redirect to Quest?

Overhaul![]
This page needs an overhaul or a change of direction. This page is currently pointless.
Personally, I see no point in trying to make a giant list of quests here, it'll never happen, and if anyone tried it would be too hard to keep up-to-date. A full list of quests is best found on database websites - there's no point attempting to compete with them.
Instead, I suggest it is merged with Quest, info from the two pages collected together, and a Quests of Interest page created with whatever important quests are already in the system -- Kirkburn 09:17, 29 May 2006 (EDT)
- Argh! Why can't we just have it like it was, with Quest having basic info on what a quest is and details about quests in general and Quests can be the giant list or just a redirect back to Quest. The big list should reall be on a page called List of Quests or something like that. If I'm reminded of this mess, thats probably what I'll split things into. --Fandyllic 4:55 PM PDT 19 Jun 2006
- The big list is Category:Quests, really. The real problem is that they're sorted alphabetically there (versus by area / by level) -- but, as Kirkburn said, maintaining a sorted list is a rather daunting and useless task when places like Thottbot allow for much easier searching.
- What we could actually do is work on the presentation of the existing quest pages: current boilerplate uses too many headers for simplistic information like level obtained (should probably be templated). {{questinfo}} to take quest name, level obtained, quest level, NPC giving quest / NPC finishing quest, zone and prereqs and display them in a nice fashion would be awesome. Continued overhaul[]
With Fandyllic on this one. There is need for new players to know what a quest is, then the different types of quests and what to do with them, together with how to share a quest, how to abandon a quest etc. There are already sub-categories of quests by level such as [[Category:Quests at 18]] and by zone, and these should be added to the bottom of each page as a category, thus removing the need to manually pull together a list. QuestHistory to WoWWiki converter idea[]
See Wowpedia talk:Village pump#Importing_from_QuestHistory_addon_to_WoWWiki.3F for the prelminary discussion on this. It's not an addon, just a standalone Lua program. Fandyllic recommended moving the discussion here, so here I am. Things to think about:
- Are there still strong feelings against cataloging tons of quests, including the low-level stuff, here? This is assuming that a sufficient number of people use my program to generate quest pages that wouldn't have been generated otherwise. I know Thottbot and Allakhazam are out there, but some (including me) might prefer to have their references in an open form that can't be easily hijacked away.
- How complicated should this get? At the moment, I'm working on the simplest level: the program requires a local copy of the Quest boilerplate, and writes the final quest page back out to the screen. It would be easy to have it write out to a text file instead. Now, if I wanted to get more complicated, I'm pretty sure I can find the Lua libraries to grab the boilerplate from WoWWiki directly, but there's no guarantee that someone wouldn't edit the Boilerplate to break the template strings that I'm replacing with the quest content. On the other hand, if there were substantial positive changes to the boilerplate, people with old versions of the program would still be uploading quests using the old boilerplate. Some of this might be solved by changing the boilerplate text to make sure that my template strings would be very unique, for example, using __GGSSCC__ for where the monetary reward should go. --Noam 07:56, 21 June 2006 (EDT)
Class-Specific Quests[]
Is it possible to get more information about class-specific quests on this page?
Quest colours[]
How about a bit about what the colours for quests mean, and at what (relative) level quests turn into particular colours? --TheParanoidOne 19:27, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Experience points[]
The article says quests give less experience to higher-level characters. How much less? —Frungi (talk) 02:54, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Icons[]
Where should the icons go if they are out-of-place for this article? I'm guessing like a beginner article about quests. — Surafbrov T / C 22:53, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
