added that shadowform increases damage to shadow wands. Removed the statement that shadowform increases mana burn damage, as it does not, nothing in game can increase mana burn damage. I've just tested both. Mana Burn damage in fact can be increased, just not it's drain. To be precise, my MB Rank 4 did 403 Shadow damage, which is more than the theoretical maximum of (612 / 2 =) 306. Furthermore it does not seem as if Shadowform increased wand damage, I wanded a whole mob and my damage did never do more or less than the wand's normal damage. --bfx 15:36, 8 February 2007 (EST)
- Did you take into account +damage items? Just making sure.--Sky 15:56, 8 February 2007 (EST)
- Mana Burn does not benefit from +damage items. I did some further testing. Level 49, 157 Shadow damage, troll. Test case 1 (no Shadowform, no Shadow Weaving): Mana Burn always hit for the expected value plus a small amount, which seems to be my troll racial beast slaying (did it on a Fire Roc in Tanaris). It does not seem as if +Shadow damage affects Mana Burn in any way (as intended). Test case 2 (Shadowform, yet no Shadow Weaving): Mana Burn hit for roughly 15 % more. Test case 3 (Shadowform and Shadow Weaving): Mana Burn hit even higher, for as much as expected. However I'm not perfectly sure about wands as I don't have a proper wand to test it. --bfx 02:24, 9 February 2007 (EST)
- Intriguing. I did not realize there were some spells which did not benefit from +damage. In any case, you might consider retesting on non-Beast type mobs, such as the Naga or another Human type class. You might want to have a look on the AH for a Shadow damage wand; you can prolly get a green for a 1 or 2, tops. Otherwise, continue on!--Sky 02:59, 9 February 2007 (EST)
- I did some additional testing. Shadowform seems to be fixed in regard to wand damage. Both the ranged damage tooltip and the actual damage are above normal damage while in Shadowform. Will fix it in the article. --bfx 09:52, 9 February 2007 (EST)
- Did another test on the 2.3 PTR; Shadowform still increases damage of Shadow wands. --bfx 06:52, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I updated the tips and tacts sections since some well respected priests in the official forums tested Shadowform to see if it stacked with armor reduction in an additive fashion as opposed to multiplicative. They used a predictable melee attack: Gouge which hits for 105. It was calcuated that Shadowform's reduction is done before the armor reduction is applied lessening the value of Shadowform. This is similiar to the Paladin talented blessing: Blessing of Sanctuary. Zequel 13:22, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
